Spring / Early Summer

A dwarf compact variety of phlox and I think my favourite, we used to grow this plant many years ago and somehow lost it, but recently discovered it again in my sister in laws garden in North Yorkshire. It has small violet flowers with a lovely perfume which reminds me of Johnsons baby powder. Idea; for trough, container or rock garden. Growing tips. Alpine phlox are easy and colourful, to keep them in good shape feed with tomato fertiliser occasionally in Summer, and to keep them neat and healthy prune well in August. New growth will appear again in early spring. They are long lived and do benefit from pruning.
