Small evergreen shrub with dark green glossy leaves and clusters of highly fragrant flowers from late spring. When budded the flowers are deep pink opening to pale pink. After flowering, red berries are set which continue to show off this plant beyond the flowering season. Prefers a moist but well-drained soil in sun or semi-shade. Like all daphnes it prefers a reasonably sheltered site in any good garden soil.
Caution: all parts of this plant are poisonous if eaten.
