Delivery & Payment
We dispatch plant orders on Monday to Thursday and aim to have your plants with you within 24 hours of dispatch. Parcels are sent either by Royal Mail ‘Next Day’ delivery or a specialist parcel carrier with ‘next day’ service. You will receive an email when your plants have been dispatched with a tracking code allowing you to follow your order through the delivery system. A signature is required upon delivery and if no one is home the courier will leave a card. If you are not going to be at home and would like your parcel to be left with a neighbour or in a porch, for example, please leave instructions at the checkout page within PayPal or email us with specific instructions.
Our UK delivery charges are as follows:
£9.50: UK mainland (see below for postcode exceptions)
£18.00: Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Isle of Wight and Isle of Man
Delivery surcharge by postcode (one surcharge per order)
£8.00: Scottish Mainland - AB37-38, AB41-56, IV1-20, IV25, IV30-37, IV63, KW1-3, KW6-10, KW14, PH15-26, PA21-35, PA37-39, PH33, PH49
£13.00: Scottish Offshore - HS1-9, IV41-56, KA27-28, KW15-17, PA20, PA41-49, PA62-76, PH42-44, ZE1-3

If you live outside the UK and your country is not listed above but would like to place an order with us, please email us for a delivery charge quotation.
No deliveries will be made on Bank or National Holidays and there may be a delayed service if we are at a flower show or are on holiday.
We are very conscious that the cost of carriage is becoming expensive and we try to keep the price down as much as possible by using lightweight packing materials. However, we believe that the 24-hour, next day delivery service, from day of dispatch, is essential to ensure your plants arrive in good condition. Plants are packed in clear, plastic 'blister packs' which hold them and their compost firmly so they arrive at their destination in good condition and ready to plant.
To save money why not combine orders with a friend or neighbour and share the delivery cost with them?
Be sure to unpack your plants as soon as possible (and within 48 hours of arrival). Place them in a light position outside and water well until you are ready to plant them out.

When ordering please be aware that at certain times of the year it may be necessary to cut back plants in order to keep down our carriage charges for our customers. This will not harm the plant and will not affect its chances of growth. Please contact us if you have any questions about this.
All our plants are supplied in 7cm pots unless otherwise stated in individual plant descriptions.
Our preferred form of payment is via secure online payment gateway, PayPal which you will be automatically transferred to when ordering online. You do not require a PayPal account to order in this way, and are not required to create one. PayPal accepts most debit and credit cards. However, if you have any problems paying via PayPal, or would prefer to purchase our plants by other means, we also accept telephone orders with payment by cheque or by BACS. We take every care to pack your plants to ensure they arrive with you in excellent condition and every plant should be fine in the packaging for up to 48 hours after delivery. Plants are living things – they need light and water to survive and it is important you unpack them as soon as possible.
If for any reason you are unhappy with your order, you can return any products or plants you're not happy with within 28 days of receiving them, provided you have contacted us within 7 days of receipt. If you have questions or complaints about a specific plant, please attach an image of the plant to help us identify it.
Border Alpines will not pay the carriage costs of returned plants.
Until we receive the goods you are returning, they are your responsibility. For your protection and peace of mind, we recommend you use a recorded delivery service to return products or plants to us.
To get a full refund, simply tell us you would like to return the order, return the item to us in its original condition, in its original packaging within 28 days of informing us.
